IIT JEE (Advanced) exam pattern is subject to change, and it’s important to verify the latest information from the official sources. Below is a general overview of the exam pattern based on the previous years:

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern:

  1. Number of Papers:
    • JEE Advanced is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  2. Subjects:
    • Both papers contain questions from the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  3. Question Types:
    • The questions are typically of multiple-choice type (MCQs) and numerical answer type questions.
  4. Language:
    • The question papers are available in English and Hindi languages.
  5. Exam Duration:
    • Each paper is of 3 hours duration.
  6. Marking Scheme:
    • The marking scheme may vary for different questions. There may be negative marking for incorrect answers to some questions.
  7. Sections:
    • Each paper may be divided into three sections, one for each subject.
  8. Eligibility for AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test):
    • Candidates desirous of joining the B.Arch program need to qualify in the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT), which is conducted separately.

  4. Language:

    • Paper 1 is of 3 hours duration, while Paper 2 is also of 3 hours duration.
  6. Marking Scheme:
    • For MCQs, there is a provision for negative marking for incorrect answers. Numerical answer type questions do not have negative marking.
  7. Mode of Examination:
    • JEE Main is conducted in two modes – Computer Based Test (CBT) and Pen and Paper Based Test.
